Call of the Day: Pressure Your MoCs To Schedule A Town Hall This Recess

None of our Congressional representatives have scheduled a town hall this recess. NONE. That's just unacceptable, isn't it? Let's make sure they know you won't stand for it.

Reminders: Identify where you're calling from (town and zip code is fine) so they know you're an actual constituent. Only call MoCs that represent you. Be concise - the office will get through more calls that way. Be polite and don't argue with the staffer - they don't set policy.  If you get a voicemail, then leave a message. And if you get a busy signal -- call back later!

Make 3 Calls:

Sen. Bill Cassidy - DC OFFICE: (202) 224-5824 and METAIRIE OFFICE: (504) 838-0130

AND

Sen. John Kennedy - DC OFFICE: (202) 224-4623

AND

Rep. Steve Scalise - DC OFFICE: (202) 225-3015 and METAIRIE OFFICE: (504) 837-1259

OR

Rep. Cedric Richmond - DC OFFICE: (202) 225-6636 and NEW ORLEANS OFFICE: (504) 288-3777

Because of how Congressional districts are drawn, New Orleans residents have either Richmond or Scalise as their representative. If you don't know who your representative is, you can look it up by entering your home address on the U.S. House of Representatives website.

Sample Script:

Hi, my name is [Name] from New Orleans, zip code 70118 [or wherever you're from]. I don't need a response.

I'm calling to ask why Senator/Representative [NAME] isn't holding any public town halls this recess. The congressman is meant to work for us and I don’t see how he can do that without making himself available to his constituents.  I really think he should be holding a town hall. Please let me know as soon as he schedules one. Thank you for your time and your work answering phones.
