Call of the Day: Invite Sen. Kennedy to Our Town Hall

Our town hall for Senator Kennedy, jointly put on by Indivisible NOLA and Metairie Indivisible, is THIS EVENING! (More details here.) We've invited him, but we haven't heard yet whether or not he plans to attend. So let's invite him again (and again, and again…)

Reminders: Identify where you're calling from (town and zip code is fine) so they know you're an actual constituent. Be concise - the office will get through more calls that way. Be polite and don't argue with the staffer - they don't set policy.  If you get a voicemail, then leave a message. And if you get a busy signal -- call back later!

Sen. John Kennedy: DC OFFICE: (202) 224-4623 and BATON ROUGE OFFICE: (225) 930-9033

Sample Script:

Hi, my name is [Name] from New Orleans, zip code 70119 [or wherever you're from].

I'm calling to find out whether or not Sen. Kennedy plans to attend tomorrow's town hall for him at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in New Orleans, at 7 PM. The Senator has been invited, but he hasn't yet responded whether he plans to attend.

IF YES: Great! I look forward to the chance to ask him questions face-to-face.

IF NO: Why not? There will be lots of his constituents in attendance, who eagerly await the chance to ask him questions and voice their concerns. Please re-extend the invitation to the senator, and pass along our hopes that he will come.

Thank you for your time, and your hard work answering the phones.
