Call of the Day: Express Disappointment In No-Show Neely

Wednesday night's citizens' town hall for Sen. Kennedy was a roaring success. We had 120+ people show up from New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, Mandeville, Covington – even Baton Rouge! Thank you to everyone who came out; you were INCREDIBLE.

The one person who didn't come, however, was the guest of honor himself, Sen. Kennedy. Let's make sure No-Show Neely knows how we feel about that.

Who: Sen. John Kennedy

WHERE: Kennedy -  DC OFFICE: (202) 224-4623 and LAFAYETTE OFFICE (337) 269-5980

Reminders: Identify where you're calling from (town and zip code is fine) so they know you're an actual constituent. Be concise - the office will get through more calls that way. Be polite and don't argue with the staffer - they don't set policy.  If you get a voicemail, then leave a message. And if you get a busy signal -- call back later!

Sample script:

Hi, my name is [Name] from New Orleans, zip code 70018 [or wherever you're from].

I'm calling to express my disappointment that Senator Kennedy didn't attend the town hall put on by Indivisible NOLA and Metairie Indivisible last night. More than 120 of his constituents showed up and asked great questions about corruption, climate change, taxes and health care. The question I would have asked, had he shown up, was: [INSERT YOUR QUESTION HERE]

I certainly hope that during the next recess, Sen. Kennedy holds a public town hall on his own, or at least shows up to the ones his constituents organize for him.

Thank you for your time and your work answering phones.

BONUS CALL: Call Sen. Cassidy & Rep. Scalise/Richmond and ask why they didn't bother to hold any town halls either!
