Call of the Day: Support an Independent, Nonpartisan Investigation Into Trump's Russian Ties

Yes, we've called about this before. But we've got to keep doing it, especially as Trump and co. keep trying to pivot to everything and anything they can to distract.

So today’s call has three options: You can call your representative, your senators, OR both! It’s up to you. Just remember, if you call your senators, ask them to support S. 27. If you call your congressmen, ask them to support H.R. 356.
For what it's worth: Cassidy was a co-sponsor of HR 36 in the 113 Congress calling for a select commission to investigate Benghazi, so it’s interesting that he hasn’t done the same here. You might want to call him out on that.

Rep. Steve Scalise (1st District) Washington: (202) 225-3015 Metairie: (504) 837-1259

Rep. Cedric Richmond (2nd District) Washington: (202) 225-6636 New Orleans: (504)288-3777

Call only your rep! If you live in the New Orleans area, it could be either. To find your rep, go to

Sen. Bill Cassidy - DC (202) 224-5824 and Metairie: (504) 838-0130
Sen. John Kennedy -  DC (202) 224-4623 and Baton Rouge: (225) 930-9033
Reminders: Identify where you're calling from (town and zip code is fine) so they know you're an actual constituent. Only call your own representative. Be concise - the office will get through more calls that way. Be polite and don't argue with the staffer - they don't set policy.  If you get a voicemail, then leave a message. And if you get a busy signal -- call back later!
Sample script-
Hi, my name is [Name] from New Orleans, zip code 70018 [or wherever you're from]. I don't need a response.
I am calling on the Senator/Representative to support a fully independent, nonpartisan commission to investigate possible ties between the Trump campaign and administration and Russia. With Nunes’ recent actions, it is clear that he can’t be trusted to lead an unbiased investigation.
I would like the Senator/Representative to co-sponsor:
(IF SCALISE/RICHMOND)  H.R. 356, the Protecting our Democracy Act

This bill would create a special commission to investigate Russian interference into our elections and our democratic institutions.  Thank you for your time answering the phones and have a good day.
