Call Of The Day: Urge Congress To End The ShutDown, Fund CHIP, And Pass DACA

Donald Trump and the Republicans rejected multiple attempts at compromise from Senate Democrats and allowed the Federal government to shut down at midnight on the one year anniversary of Donald Trump’s inauguration.  Rather than considering proposals that would protect thousands of Dreamers from the immediate risk of deportation, fund essential services such as the Children's Health Insurance Program and providing relief for communities still without clean drinking water after natural disasters, negotiations have become a blame game.  Children kept alive by CHIP coverage, Dreamers fearing for their future, and thousands of federal workers are paying the price for the failure to negotiate in good faith.

Over the past few weeks, bipartisan proposals have been derailed by Trump's ever-changing mind, racist outbursts, and demands for a costly and unpopular border wall.  Complicating this dynamic is the fact that Republicans have abandoned sensible bipartisan proposals in favor of appeasing anti-immigration hardliners in the Republican party.  It is clear that this dynamic must be disrupted and order and good faith negotiations must resume.

Call your representatives to urge them to work now to protect the Dreamers, fund CHIP, provide disaster relief funding and reopen the government so our nation can begin to function for everyone.
