Call Of The Day: Demand Scott Pruitt Resign As Environmental Protection Agency Administration

Scott Pruitt, the climate change-denying Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has repeatedly demonstrated that he cannot be trusted with management of the EPA or taxpayer dollars.  In his first year at the EPA, Pruitt spent more than $163,000 in taxpayer dollars on first class and military travel and ordered the construction of a $25,000 soundproof booth in his office.  It was also recently revealed that Pruitt is renting a condo owned by DC energy lobbyists at a steeply discounted rate, raising red flags about conflicts of interest with Pruitt’s EPA work.

Pruitt’s extensive history of prioritizing industry interests over environmental protection has led him to advocate for harmful, counter-intuitive EPA policies.  On March 29, Pruitt submitted a plan to the White House to substantially roll back standards for auto emissions and fuel economy established by President Obama.  As even automotive industry representatives have noted, this decision will not only exacerbate climate change but also endanger the American auto industry by bucking the global trend towards developing greener vehicles.

Scott Pruitt’s squandering of taxpayer dollars, inappropriate ties with industry lobbyists, and dangerously incompetent policy-making disqualify him from his role as the head of the EPA.  The EPA’s role is to protect human health and the environment, and Scott Pruitt has demonstrated that he has no interest in defending either.
