Call Of The Day: Urge Our Senators To Delay A Kavanaugh Vote Until The FBI Investigates The Assault Allegations

UPDATE (9/24/19): Dr. Blasey Ford has agreed to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, however an FBI investigation is still needed for transparency.

A claim of sexual assault against already-embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has cast further doubt on the legitimacy of his nomination. Professor Christine Blasey Ford alleges that at a high school party, a drunken Kavanaugh and his classmate Mark Judge forced her into a bedroom and turned up the music to muffle her cries. Kavanaugh allegedly pinned Blasey Ford down with his body, groped her, and placed his hand over her mouth to muffle her screams for help. Blasey Ford states she feared Kavanaugh might kill her. Blasey Ford’s allegations were originally anonymous due to privacy concerns. However, at great personal risk to herself and her family, Blasey Ford decided to identify herself and provide further information about her assault. Blasey Ford’s therapists and husband have confirmed she spoke with them about the assault several times over the past decade; Blasey Ford also took and passed a polygraph test administered by a former FBI agent.

Blasey Ford’s allegations add to the long list of reasons Kavanaugh should not be seated, from his longstanding opposition to abortion access to the lack of transparency throughout his nomination process. Senators must decline to vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation until Blasey Ford’s allegations have been thoroughly investigated.

Hi, my name is [Your Name] and I'm an active voter from New Orleans, ZIP Code 70118 [Or wherever you’re from].

I'm calling to urge the Senator to demand that the Senate delay any vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh until the FBI investigates the serious and credible attempted rape allegations against Kavanaugh. His accuser's allegations have been deemed highly credible, and law enforcement must assess her claims before Kavanaugh can be seated on our nation's highest court.

Thank you for your time and attention.
