As pressure mounts to end the government shutdown, the Trump administration has proposed a trade for $5.7B in wall funding. Trump’s plan includes a 3-year temporary extension of the DACA program, which would be only available to current participants and would completely end after the 3-year period. The proposal also contains provisions to change the asylum system, including a provision forbidding Central American minors from applying for asylum at the border or another port of entry. Trump’s plan treats young, vulnerable Americans as hostages and tries to curtail the legal right to seek asylum while causing federal workers unnecessary pain. The administration must agree to reopen the government so real solutions can be found to immigration reform and securing our borders

Hi, my name is [Your Name] and I'm an active voter from New Orleans, ZIP Code 70118 [Or wherever you’re from].
I’m calling to demand the senator vote to reopen the government before negotiating funding for border security. Holding DACA and TPS recipient hostage while harming federal workers is not the way to engage in bipartisan compromise and negotiations.
And while I have you on the line, … when is the senator going to hold a town hall meeting in the largest city in Louisiana?
Thank you for your time and attention.
